Kindergarten Gold has never been busier! Focusing on their Math and Writing skills has been an educational and fun learning experience. Students have been forming groups using the numbers 0 to 5 with their math manipulatives. Kindergarten Gold loved pretending to be frogs, jumping in and out of their “pond” in the classroom while focusing on the lesson of zero. “Hands-on learning is a great resource that fully engages them,” Miss Peters said of her students. “The use of erasers, tokens, counting bears, and other objects makes it that much more enjoyable while grasping a concept at the same time,” she explained.
Kindergarten students also make use of “number rhymes” to make their correct formations. Miss Peters class is also beginning to strengthen their writing skills through the Fundations Program. Students have individual kits that include dry erase writing boards, magnet letters/boards, and workbooks for practice. They review sound-tub items, hand motions, and the use of vocabulary that includes “skyline, plane line, grass line, and worm line.” Kindergarten Gold also has the chance to do a little “show and tell” to the class with their own items as each letter is introduced. “I love having some fun with them and their trinkets when they have the opportunity to present,” exclaimed Miss Peters!
