The preschool year has started off great! This is the second year OMPH School has offered a full-time preschool program, and our teachers and aides are taking advantage of the full-day experience they are able to offer the children. Our Preschool classroom, for children who turn three by September 1st, is run by Miss Armstrong and her aide, Mrs. Rann. Pre-Kindergarten, for children who turn four by September 1st, is led by Mrs. Edmiston and her aide, Mrs. Flower.
A typical day in the OMPH three- and four-year-old classrooms consists of morning meeting, free play, small group time, music and movement time, large group time, lunch in the cafeteria, gross motor time on the outside playground, nap time, story time, snack time, and an afternoon meeting time. Our youngest students also go to Mass every Friday with the entire school!
The Middle School students help these little learners each week while they are in the church. Some of the activities that our Preschool classes have done so far this year include making self-portraits, identifying and writing their names, counting objects, learning about God, learning how to play with many other children in one room, and learning about each of their classmates. Upcoming themes for this school year include the five senses, apples, fire safety, space, and pumpkins. Mrs, Edmiston, Mrs. Flower, Miss Armstrong, and Mrs. Rann can’t wait to have so much fun this year!
