Catching up with Preschool & PreK

Our Preschool year started on September 5, 2023 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help School. This is our third year as a fulltime Preschool program. Our day starts at 8am and ends at 2:40pm.

We have one Preschool classroom for 3-year-olds and one PreKindergarten classroom for 4-year-olds. Miss Armstrong is the Teacher in the Preschool classroom and Mrs. Rann is her Classroom Assistant. Mrs. Edmiston is the Teacher in the PreKindergarten classroom and Mrs. Flower is her Classroom Assistant. We have seven students in the Preschool 3 classroom this year; and 16 students in the PreKindergarten classroom this year.

We have a class schedule that we follow each day. Our typical day consists of morning meeting on the carpet, free play, small group time, music and movement time, large group time, lunch in the cafeteria, story time, gross motor time on the outside playground, nap time, snack time, and an afternoon meeting time. We also are attending three special classes this year! Miss Emma takes us over the atrium for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program once a week. Mrs. Driehaup takes us into the library once a month. Mrs. Sands teaches us a music lesson once a week. We also have visitors come into our school to talk to us about their jobs each month. In the past, we have had a nurse, a detective, a police officer, firefighters, and a farmer come. We can’t wait to have more visitors this year!

Some of the activities that we have done so far this year include making self-portraits, writing our names, counting objects, learning about God, learning how to play with many other children in one room, and learning about each of our classmates. Some of our upcoming themes for this school year include pumpkins, Thanksgiving, the nativity, winter, friendship, and rainbows. We can’t wait to explore these topics this school year!
