Catching Up With 3rd & 4th Grade

January 26, 2025 is the first day of Catholic School’s Week! Mrs. Touloumis’ Third Grade students will express their Catholic faith as good stewards of creation by taking care of the Earth. Students will be using their imaginations to create a science project, reusing materials they have at home to make a brand new recycled craft! This is a fun way for the students to not only learn about the benefits of recycling, but to also understand the importance of caring for God’s creations. The third grade students will continue to work toward building our community of faith by completing random acts of kindness. As they move along in their Math curriculum, the children continue on their journey of multiplication. “They will use different hands-on activities to learn their multiplication facts,” explained Mrs. Touloumis. These activities include creating multiplication arrays, having class multiplication bees, and working with each other to practice their facts. According to Mrs. Touloumis, “making it fun will make it stick!”

Mrs. Dodson’s Fourth Grade class is excited to start off the new year in Religion with a study of the Epiphany. “We know that God shares his love for us most perfectly through his Son, Jesus. We want to remember how the Wise Men followed the star, recognized the baby as Christ the King and worshipped him and gave Him gifts,” explained Mrs. Dodson. The class is about to wrap up 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication in Math. Every day, the students practice their multiplication and division facts as they prepare to move on to long division problems. One of Fourth Grade’s favorite things to do is play BINGO to practice their vocabulary words in Science and Social Studies. They are learning about the regions of Pennsylvania and types of energy. Students have been working hard on reading books and incorporating group discussions to help them think through and understand what they read. “The class uses their Chromebooks to conduct additional research and practice more about our daily lessons from the classroom,” added Mrs. Dodson.
