Where did you meet Jesus today?
Throughout the school year, the students of OMPH Catholic School use their eyes, ears, lips, hands, hearts and minds to be the Body of Christ for others. This Lenten Season our students will turn these acts of prayer, sacrifice, and almsgiving into “Healing the Wounds of Jesus.” During Lent the students will keep in mind that when they are reaching out to others, they are reaching out to Jesus.
Every time they do an act of kindness, offer a prayer, or make a sacrifice, they do it with love knowing they are healing the wounds of Jesus. Here are some practical activities that each grade will be completing on our Lenten Journey.
Preschool 3 will complete a kindness calendar, and Preschool 4 will create the symbols of the Lenten season and make a Lenten promise.
Kindergarten Blue will read Lenten stories and discuss how we can be giving to Jesus and others. Kindergarten Gold will fill a Jelly Bean jar where each color represents kindness, sharing, prayers, saying “I’m sorry,” giving grace, sharing, and forgiving.
First Grade Blue will make a paper chain of sacrifices, prayers, and good deeds. First Grade Gold will create a stained glass craft by coloring in a section for every sacrifice they make.
Second Grade will perform the Passion Play for the school community, reenacting Holy Week.
Third Grade will make a Lenten promise cross.
Fourth Grade will work on a family Lenten calendar
Fifth Grade will create 3D dioramas of Palm Sunday, The Last Supper, The Crucifixion, The Resurrection, and The Ascension.
Sixth Grade will present the Live Stations of the Cross for our school community.
Seventh Grade will study the fish symbolism of Lent.
Eighth Grade will write daily notes of gratitude to acknowledge the goodness within their peers.
