Class Field Trips Inspire Learning and Fun

From creek studies to cave formation, OMPH School students learned outside the classroom on their annual field trips!

• Preschool 4 chose Refreshing Mountain as the site of their trip. They attended a Reptiles and Amphibians show and toured the wildlife center, which included feeding time at the Birds of Prey exhibit.

• Our Kindergarten classes chose to visit the Hands on House!

• The North Museum was the site chosen for the 1st Grade Blue and Gold class’ field trip. Students had a great time exploring at the museum!

• Our 2nd Grade class visited Indian Echo Caverns and Hershey’s Chocolate World in May.

• Our 3rd and 4th Grade classes visited the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg, PA.

• The 5th and 6th grade students had the opportunity to participate in JA’s BizTown, an 8,000 square foot mini-city housing a variety of business storefronts. Students received classroom instruction ahead of this visit to prepare them for this simulated workday experience. They learned about various careers including banking, journalism, manufacturing, construction, medicine and more!

• The OMPH 6th and 7th Grade students visited Middle Creek State Park, where they participated in Skull King (an activity helping to identify skulls of Pennsylvania wildlife), Scatology (making a model of wildlife droppings based on food, sex, etc.), and a guided hike about pollination and seeding of plants. Students also engaged in a scavenger hunt of the visitor center using displays of the waterfowl, raptors, and other wildlife.

• Our 8th grade students visited Washington, D.C. thanks to a very generous benefactor. Bus transportation and entrance fees for field trips are paid for by The Fund for OMPH School, making these trips free for all students!
