Kindergarten Blue 2026
“Kindergarten Blue is a loved family,” exclaims teacher, Mrs. Joele Gerhard! In the first several weeks of school, Mrs. Gerhard focuses on how her class is a loving and special family filled with many fun learning experiences.
They start with their daily classroom affirmations script, where they speak positive words using hand motions together as a class. These affirmations build self- confidence, strengthen friendships, develop resilience, and create a learning environment where the students know they are loved, valued, have a voice, are special, and safe. “I use meaningful stories, classroom discussions, and hands on activities that teach the students about life skills such as kindness, perseverance, empathy, responsibility, leadership, and respect,” explained Mrs. Gerhard.
Next, Kindergarten Blue moves onto their Boot Camp where the students learn and master many important fine-motor skills essential for the students to be successful in Kindergarten. Mrs. Gerhard decorates the room with camouflage items to incorporate the Boot Camp theme. The students are allowed to wear camouflage clothing attire on the first and last day of their Boot Camp. She provides camouflage hats, real dog tag necklaces, key chains, and special camouflage gifts for the students to use and wear in class throughout our Boot Camp. “During Boot Camp, I share stories, videos, songs, poems, and hands on activities to go with each skill the students participate in.
Each year it is amazing to see how much the kindergarten students enjoy and love participating in all of the fun and exciting activities we do as a class,” shared Mrs. Gerhard. In Kindergarten Blue, the students learn and embrace being part of a loving family where they feel encouraged, supported, and celebrated!
