OMPH School Presented with Award from Diocese of Harrisburg

Each year, the Missionary Childhood Association of the Diocese of Harrisburg acknowledges the special achievements made by an elementary school whose students have demonstrated exceptional mission awareness and Christian concern for children in developing countries of the world.

On September 21, 2022, at the virtual Education Conference, Mr. Dan Breen, Diocesan Secretary for Education, announced that OMPH School was the winner of the Bishop’s Mission Award for the 2021-2022 school year! Students participated in special events and activities throughout the school year, with donations being collected at each event.

Under the guidance of OMPH School’s Mission Moderator, Mrs. Natasha Pickett, the generosity of our students and families resulted in over $4,000 being raised for MCA! OMPH School was visited by Father Sharman, the Diocese of Harrisburg Director of Pontifical Missions, on October 22. Father presented Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Pickett with a special plaque recognizing this amazing achievement; the plaque can be seen hanging in the front lobby of our school. After the award ceremony, a special Living Rosary was offered by our students and staff in honor of Mary, Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

Missionary Childhood Association, the official missions program in the Diocese of Harrisburg for elementary schools, is established in more than 130 countries in the world. MCA promotes mission and global awareness among school age children. MCA is unique to other organizations that assist children in that its primary aim is to encourage children to share their faith with children in the developing world through their prayers, personal sacrifices and financial offerings. We thank our families, students, and faculty for their continued generosity to MCA, as more events and activities are being planned for this school year!
