Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year! We are so excited to begin another year of learning.
We have a few changes this school year. We say goodbye to Mrs. Ann DiNovis, Mrs. Marissa Pagan and Mr. Charles Landry. We appreciate their dedicated service to the children of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic School and wish them well in their new pursuits.
We welcome Mrs. Patty Fertal, our new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math and Science teacher. She comes to us with experience working in Catholic Schools, most recently Resurrection Catholic School in Lancaster. Patty and her husband and family are members of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Mr. Tom Blaszczyk will be teaching our 6th to 8th grade Social Studies classes. Mr. Blaszczyk is a former Lancaster Catholic history teacher and taught 5th grade at Resurrection Catholic School this past year. We are grateful that he will share his expertise in history with your middle school students
Another addition to our Middle School program is Mrs. Melanie Lentz. Melanie comes to us from Holy Trinity Catholic School in York. Melanie is a former colleague of mine from York. She will be teaching 6th to 8th grade Religion and Kindergarten to 8th grade Technology.
We also welcome Miss Lauren Rothenberger as our 5th grade teacher. Lauren is a 2025 graduate of Lebanon Valley College and comes to us with experience working with children in before and after school programs. She is from Jonestown and will be moving into the Ephrata area.
Our faculty has been researching Science of Reading, the skills and instructional methods that are proven effective in teaching reading to our students. The five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension play a crucial role in developing strong reading skills. We will be using a new reading program with our students this year to engage our students in meaningful reading instruction.
We will also be implementing a new math series this year in grades 5 to 8 and then next year in the younger grades. We will be using Cengage Big Ideas Math from National Geographic Learning. The younger students will continue with My Math for this school year.
